    Nikon DF

Anyone like the new "retro" look of the Nikon DF FX camera? (I do, brings back memories.)

Very similar to the old Nikon F3HP

    I never had the F3, having skipped over the F3 series from a F2AS to a F4s.

I really like the look of it, I've thought about getting it as my journalism body to use at shows and events and stuff I cover, as I really need a lower MP body that handles high ISO really well. however there are some things that bother me about it. first the auto focus module in it is the lower end 39 point one from the D600 series rather than the better 51 point one from the D800/D4. not that I really care about the 39vs51 points, 39 is more than enough, but they're all crowded in the center of the frame which I don't like. then it also has a max shutter speed of 1/4000, instead of the 1/8000 like most higher end bodies, which Isn't terrible either, I've only needed 1/8000 a handful of times...BUT at the price point of almost $3k they're asking for it, I kindof think those things should have been included.

I'm still on the fence about it, I do really like the look of it, and the D4 sensor is incredible. I do need a second body to use since I sold my D800, and I might go with the Df since it does fill most all the requirements I need. but I think I'll have to try one out before I make up my mind about it. if I don't get it, I'll probably look at a used D3s again, I've really been missing it since I sold mine.

If they released one that looked like my old F4s, I would probably purchase it as fast as I could get to BH or Adorama (or even Amazon).

Make one that looks like an F5, and I would fly to NY to pick it up.....

I like the interesting F4 look, the F5 is looking pretty similar to the D3/s/x/4 bodies to me, a little different but definitely starting to get into that arena.

I think I'll hold off on the Df unless it turns out to be fantastic when I try it out. this might sound odd, but I hope they come out with a high MP professional full body D4x.

Wouldn't the higher MP's cause an issue with the 11 FPS? As far as the hardware processing that much info in a short time?

who said 11fps? yeah large files wouldn't be able to do high speed stuff like that, but I'd like to see something around 6-8fps, it'd take more processing power, but they did just come out with the expeed 4 processor which isn't on much of anything yet, I wonder what that is capable of..or even multiple processors or something like that
