working on a new article about camo

So I'm working on a new article to post up soon on how to protect and camo your gear without spending a fortune. I get asked about it a lot out when I meet people out in the field so I figured it'd be a good thing to write on.

In the Philippines tailors are cheap to hire. I've had my 200/2.0, 300/2.8, 500/4 and 800/5.6 done. Problem is the fit and finish arent up to par with LensCoat.

Now, because the Philippines has an active insurgency vs the govt it is ill adviced to go all camo. I was even halted at a checkpoint because of my CADPAT covers.

Material cost of a LensCoat I guestimate is less than $10. Seeming people who buy em spend tens of thousands on gear what is $100, right?

I still bought LensCoats but in black for my 200/2, 400/2.8 and 600/4.

Sold off the 600/4 as a friend had an urgent need for em. Didn't charge a margin because he's a pal.

In the final analysis the value of the lens on the secondary market boils down to demand. Yes if your lens looked like it went through WW3 it will get asked less but if you're the sole game in town you dictate price. But then again how many people can afford to go birding?

that's true, but I've never really been a huge fan of the lenscoats. plus its good to have some other options out there especially for things that don't have pre-made coats...the article I'm working on will show some other uses too...I'll get it up soon. I've just got some software things I'm working on here and on my other forum I need to finish first.
