So here is my problem on ebay I can pick up a brand new sigma 35mm 1.4 UPC. 085126340551
    For about $750 US.

But there is another listing for a sigma 35mm 1.4 UPC. 008512630568
    That is $899 US.

I can't seem to find the diffence in the lenses. Can someone help?
    Thanks ahead of time.

Just headed to bed, but I'll look those UPC codes up in the AM. Where are you looking at getting them from?

Found one on eBay 0085126340568 for $761 new from Japan. That looks like the best deal so far.

I don't know if I'd buy one from Japan or Korea or China, there are several shipping from out there....they'll be grey market items and not US market...I don't know how sigma handles things, but with Nikon, if it is a grey market item, Nikon US will refuse to work on them, even if its paid, and you'll have to send it back to japan for any work....not to mention the difficulties with replacements/refunds if needed....these lenses are great but they're still a mass produced item, there is always a chance at getting a problematic lens brand new (just like any mass produced item, be it a truck part, camera lens, or otherwise)...if you're dealing with some place in Asia, you'll probably be out of luck if the copy you get has any issues....personally, I'd rather not risk it. if I buy something new, I usually always go with a reputable place within the states.

do you have a link to the ebay one you mentioned?

that's at least about new equipment, you could also look at a used or factory refurb one or something.

OK I've got a great example on why to steer away from buying something from an unauthorized foreign seller...my wife bought me a second MH-25 charger for my D800 batteries (so I have one at home and one I can take with me when I travel somewhere)...well she got the one that was $5 cheaper than the regular priced ones from authorized sellers from a place called "tycoUSA" who is selling on Amazon (and it was purchased through the Amazon site too)...sounds legit right? well the TycoUSA seller doesn't disclose this, but they ship from China, the charger just arrived today and it is a total poorly made counterfeit (not just a bad third party item, its a complete fake, its got a fake Nikon label, a fake Nikon serial number, using the Nikon logo on it, but its NOTHING like my real authentic MH-25 that came with my D800E)...we're now working with amazon to get a refund (if it's even possible), and possibly get the seller's account revoked....all because it was $5 less than the ones from the authorized sellers...

B&h, adorama, pictureline, cameta, keh, popflash are all good places I've done business with and wouldn't hesitate to again, I don't think they all sell sigma though, you can also check the authorized dealers on the sigma site (or any manufacturer)

B&H and adorama seem to be the only sites dealing in sigma, that I have found.
