    Sub-$200 128GB CompactFlash Memory Cards

    Has anyone used the following 128GB CompactFlash Memory Cards from RiData/RiTek? My sole experience with this brand is with their blank CDs and DVDs.

    I learned about these really "low" cost memory cards from another forum when I asked about 128GB CF cards selling for under $200.

    On the forum I was linked to this site http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/rid...arch_e12=128GB

    Not buying from them as it means import duties charges if I ship em to where I am currently at and I have found the local distributor.

    Robgalbraith.com benchmarked the RiData 600x cards performing within a permissible range. I would assume the 1000x, 800x and 400x will be as consistent, hopefully.

    Note:

    - Not associated with RiData, RiTek or their resellers
    - Just want to get end-user feedback for this sub-$200 128GB CompactFlash memory card from actual owners.
    - Yes, I know the maxim of not "putting all your eggs in one basket". Same was said back in 2003 when 128MB (Megabyte) memory cards were $100 and 1GB cards were $1,000.
    - Not spamming forums. I just want end-user feedback. There are no reviews on RiData's 400x, 800x or 1000x lines of CompactFlash memory cards.

    I've not used any RiData cards before. I typically use the 16-32GB Sandisk extreme cards in both CF and SD personally, I've had some Lexar ones as well...no complaints either way.

    if you end up getting any I'd be interested in how you like them.

    I've used Photofast, Sandisk, Lexar, Transcend, Kingston and I think A-Data since 2002. Fortunately never had a memory corruption issue. Older cards that write below 40MB/s tend to cause "busy" with the 1D4, 5D2 and 7D. I am impressed with my Photofast 533x Plus cards as they can write at above 80MB/s besting many mainstream 600x cards.

    On BHPhoto 128GB cards start at $230 and ends at $640.

    My self-imposed budget for memory cards is $100 excluding 12% VAT. Maybe this means I should stick to 64GB 800x UDMA7 cards? ^_^

    I posted this for preparatory purchase. I tend to get two cards with a new body. I expect the 7D and 1DX replacement sometime within the next 12 months. They could still use CompactFlash or the newer/faster cards like XQD or CFast.

    In terms of shapes here is a comparison between CompactFlash, XQD and SD cards

    I have noticed the slower read cards (30mb/s vs 60-80mb/s) cards tend to be too slow when shooting with my D800 as well. I actually like the QXD cards, I just wish they were more supported and widespread, I suppose that will come with time.

    If I made money off my work I'd question not and go directly to this.

    Estimate of RAWs a 256GB UDMA7 card can take

    5D2 = 8,320
    _7D = 9,920
    1D4 = 11,200
    5D3 = 9,216

    Thoughts on the 128GB & 64GB Transcend CF cards? It appears RiDATA has no representation in the Philippines.
