    Swainson's Hawk

    The was the only raptor I could find today, it was fairly windy so they were probably mostly hiding or out somewhere else.

    I believe this is a Swainson's Hawk. 500mm f5.6 1/1600s ISO360

    yeah, he's up on the top of a telephone pole and I'm parked down on the road looking up at him, not the greatest shot, and really harsh lighting, but oh well.

    This picture makes him look eagle size! I see a decent amount of these and Red Tailed hawks down here too, I'll have to snap a few next time I see one.

    yeah we get a good amount of red tails too, the swainsons are only here in summerish time, then we get rough legs in winter, and ferruginous most of the year.
