    Harris Hawk

Been taking care of our pack rat problem over these last few weeks and been leaving them out in the wash behind our house for our local birds of prey. Got an owl the other day and three Harris hawks today. Two of them flew off when I got close but this guy stayed put, definitely had his eye on the prize.

This made me really want to buy a bigger telephoto lens, it was tough getting close and even then I had to crop each photo quite a bit

That's awesome! that dark coloring they have is great, we don't get harris hawks up here much, if at all. I don't think I've ever seen one.

these are exceptional especially with just that 55-250! great job!

Thanks! I suppose it's not bad for a kit lens This guy was pretty big, probably about 18" tall. Colors were fully developed so they were definitely adults. They were taunting me again today, just squawking away on that telephone pole. Now If I just had that 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L lens I could get all three of them without having to get so close

yeah, with my new work position its a good position, but the facility I'm in now has terrible internet speed, and I can't leave my station at all during the night. so I'm thinking of taking one of my basses and a small headphone amp that I can practice with during my downtime. I have too many hobbies..

Sounds like a good idea to me. Hobbies are what keep us sane!
