depends on what you need it for, its a fantastic lens for sure, and for what it is, it's the highest end top shelf fast zoom in the 24-70 range....but its a zoom, so you do make sacrifices. its not overly fast for it's range (fast for a zoom sure, but there are plenty for significantly faster primes in the same range for less), it is pretty large, though for me thats not really much of an issue, it does have some noticable CA, which can be fixed in post depending on what you shoot, but its something to be aware of, and its several years old so it lacks some of the modern updates, some of which may or may not be useful for it, but it doesn't have things like VR so if that matters to you it may be something worth looking into

but if you need a high end zoom in that range its the best out there, though it does cost quite a bit. some other options would be to go with the older version of it which was 28-70 f2.8, also a great lens. for me I sold it and got the sigma 18-35 f1.8, which is a DX lens, but when I'm shooting shows, I don't need 36MP full frame images, so I use it in DX mode and get a similar field of view with 16MP images and get the added light gathering of f1.8 if I need it.
