But with all the work we have I'm not sure that is going to be possible. Kinda bummed about it. What I wouldn't do to meet you 2 in person that would be awesome.
    Yeah man.

So what can y'all tell me about the D3200? Best buy has em on sale for 499 with a 18-55 lenses and a 55-200 lenses.also comes with a bag. I text big al about it but haven't heard from him.

I got your text, but I was sleeping when you sent it so I just barely got it before leaving for work...

here's my thoughts on the D3200...its a decent body, but also a very entry level one, and in fact the d3200 has been replaced by the D3300 back in may...I wouldnt be suprised if Nikon updated it again to a D3400 or something within a year or so, they tend to do that with the entry level models much more frequently than the higher end ones.

Bestbuy's price on it is on par with like amazon and such. those lenses are also decent, but entry level too. but you may want to keep your eye out for something like a D5200 or one that is a step up from the 3200, simpley because the prices are really similar and you'll be able to grow more with the better bodies before you find them limiting.

I did look at the 5200 while I was there. Wasn't much more than the 3300 IIRC. I didn't see a 3200 on display so I figured as much. Like you you say "entry level" what do you think I am lol. I'm still reading reviews and general digital stuff on others as well. I have came to the conclusion that its really all personal preference. Ill be back with questions and probably start a lot of new threads lol. Do you have anything you suggest I read on just basic digital photography stuff?

Part of the problem I have with reading reviews to is none of them seem to be impartial to any particular brand. Ya know ford Chevy kinda stuff

lol, well just because you're new doesn't mean you need the lowest end camera, the ones just a step up will allow you to do more before you outgrow your gear (most people will eventually outgrow a d3200/3300, but not everyone will outgrow a 5200/5300)

yup, everything will have some kind of subjectiveness to it, I'm partial to nikon so when I look at things, that's what I use to compare, doesn't mean canon or other brands are bad, i'm just not as familiar with them...it'd be like trying to explain to someone how to tune when I use EFILive and they use HPT...

feel free to start new threads or ask whatever, just keep it out of the chat thread, we need to spread our discussions out over the forum instead of having them all in there.

Yeah I know and I really wanna help contribute to the family lol

I feel ya on the brand loyalty thing I'm really hung up here to. The current set up I have tho far out does what I am capable of at this point I just want to get something that's my own and not borrowed

This place has some great general tutorial on photography and the technology behind it if you want to read up on some things, something just need practice, like composition and stuff, but researching is never bad.

My mom was a Canadian so I grew up spelling Colour like the Brits.

As for the 3200, I have the previous model the 3100 with the 18-55 VR lens. It takes decent photos and is great for carrying around in the truck at all times and not worrying too much about it. A lot better than my Moto Max phone. Focus is fairly fast, photos are decent. Lately I have been keeping it by the back door so I can shoot some quick photos of the dogs. By the time my cell phone focuses the dogs are at the other end of the yard.

This photo was taken a few days ago with the 3100; just opened the sliding door and popped off a few shots. Taken at the 55mm setting from the back deck.
