    F5.6 is a full stop slower than f4. The iq on the 300+2.0x is still good but the 600f4 bare is better. However I also can take the tc off an get 300 and f2.8 which you can't do with the 600. CA wasn't noticeably increased

    it just takes time, full stops are: f1.0, 1.4, 2.0, 2.8, 4.0, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22

    each full stop is a doubling/halving of the light from the other stop. the numbers seem a little goofy not being numerical halves/doubles because they're actually the ratio between the aperture opening diameter and the focal length of the lens (focal length)/(aperture diameter). you'll get used to knowing the full stop numbers after a little while, especially if you use aperture priority or manual mode more often than the others.
