RULES AND REGULATIONS * Please Read!*

Welcome! Photography Wild is a online community for anyone interested in Wildlife and Nature Photography. We have a great community with people of varying skill and experience, from beginners to experts, and everyone in between. We're happy to have you as a member of our community!

Please read the general posting rules below. I will enforce them as needed, and punishment will vary according to the severity and nature of the offense, and can vary from warnings, to suspensions, to full banning. Most members won’t have a problem, but be aware that it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with these rules and follow them.

    Rules:

Content - You are responsible for all content that you post. Upon registering for a membership account, you agree to hold Photograpywild.com, it's owners, staff, affiliates, or associates harmless in regards to any and all claims, legal or otherwise.

Privacy - Although we guard your privacy and your rights strongly and will not disclose your confidential information to other members or vendors, we reserve the right to disclose your membership information including IP address, e-mail, or any other information pertaining to any subpoenas, should a legal action arise due to posts you have made on photographywild.com

Images - you must own the exclusive copyright for all images you post directly. If you would like to share any images which are not yours you must only post a link to the image, posting ANY image which you do not own directly is a violation of the rules and such posts will be deleted and infractions given as deemed necessary by the staff.

Copyright - Under no circumstances will any sort of copyright infringement be tolerated. You are not allowed to download, edit, print, or use any photo posted by any member of Photography Wild without that member's expressed permission.

Access – I don’t like limiting people from certain things before posting x number of times. So I won’t. however, if all you do is post in the classifieds, or participate in anything that can be considered ‘spamming’ you will be warned, suspended, and/or banned as the situation dictates.

Spamming – around here spamming is considered any shameless promotion of a business, product, website, or anything in which you have a vested financial interest in. We all have seen the standard ‘spammers’ which will be banned on sight. I don’t care if you mention your business or website if it applies to whatever subject is being discussed and if your post contributes to the conversation appropriately, but starting threads or posts specifically to promote your business, those will be considered spam, and will result in punishment. Deciding if something is considered ‘spam’ is solely at the discretion of the administration. If you are concerned or have questions, feel free to PM the administrator(s). If you would like to become a Supporting Vendor to have access to do some advertising with the forum, please contact the administrator and we would be happy to help you get that setup.

Signatures and Avatars– I like custom signatures, but keep them small. Pictures should not be more than 200px tall and 700px wide. A few lines of text are also okay, but keep it reasonable, we don’t need your life story in your signature. Avatars are to be kept at a reasonable size as well, avatar size is limited to 75x75px for regular members, 120x120px for supporting members or vendors. ABSOLUTELY NO PORNOGRAPHY (or pornographic like pictures) OR PROFANITY IS ALLOWED IN ANY SIGNATURE OR AVATAR OR LINKS WHATSOEVER.

Censored material – I’m not going to censor you too much. But absolutely no pornographic or pornographic-like NSFW pictures or links will be tolerated. Keep foul language in check and limited I don’t mind a little here or there in a post, but any excessive profanity or any profanity in signatures or avatars or thread titles will be removed and possibly punishment depending on the nature of the infraction. We are mainly a adult forum, but accept membership from users as young as 13, please keep your posts appropriate for all ages.

Post length – I don’t expect every post to be groundbreaking, but if all you post is LOL or similar, then we’re going to have problems.

Post Intelligence – please type what you are saying clearly, try to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. Excessive text speak, internet slang, and other similar garbage will typically not be tolerated. If this rule bothers you, I suggest that you learn to speak, and write properly if you ever want to be taken seriously in this world. Please note that I do not expect people to be perfectly fluent in English, but this is an English speaking community and posts should be written in English, if you are not a native English speaker, we understand that and we have no problem with anyone who is trying to post in English but is not perfect at it, in fact we applaud you for trying! There are some abbreviations that are common, proper, and acceptable like C&C (comments and critique), BIF (bird in flight), etc. This rule is mainly only to discourage excessive TXT type language. For example: 'u' does not equal 'you', and 'ur' does not equal 'you are' or 'you're' or 'your'.

Trolling/Complaining/Whoring – Just don’t do any of it, trying to start fights or whining, or whoring is stupid, I don’t care if you’re passionate about a subject, but realize that others have a right to their opinion, and have just as much right as you do, to express it.

Politics/religion/etc – we all have a stance on hotbed topics like these, this is a photography forum, not a political forum. Please keep your opinions of these matters to yourself or talk about it elsewhere. I don’t want to see it in the off topic forum either.

No hate speeches - We do not tolerate postings based in racism, agism, sexism, etc. regardless of their intent or purpose.

NSFW (not safe for work) content - we do not approve of NSFW images or content. Even if the content or image may not be offensive, many of our members visit the site while at work, or home with family and children present, and we intend to keep it safe for those environments. If you have something that you are unsure about posting something please contact an admin or moderator prior to posting it. No linking to any NSFW or pornography related external sites is allowed either.

    Posting and Threads:

Please post in the proper forum for your question in order to get the best response and information.

Please don’t derail other people’s threads.

The classifieds are for classifieds, not for spamming. If there becomes a problem with spam or something similar we may have to alter who has access.

Everyone is encouraged to post detailed write ups and submit articles or reviews. Please help us grow by making valuable contributions to the forum.

In the end it all comes down to common sense, this is a site for all ages, please keep your posts appropriate, on topic, and informative.

All rules and regulations can be changed at any time by the administration. All matters and punishments are at the complete discretion of the Admins their say is final.

If you have questions, feel free to ask. We don’t bite.

    UPDATE 2-4-15
Hunting and other ethics topics related to wildlife:
as a rule the forum itself has no stance on the pro or anti hunting ethics topics, and while we might support certain conservation efforts that may arise which directly affect photography, we won't take any sides on things like hunting ethics and debates on that issue fall under the rule of hotbed topics such as politics or religion. Remember this is a photography forum, it is not a hunting forum. We just need to keep the topics on point about the photography of wildlife and nature and not the ethics of hunting of them (especially the politics of hunting, this is definitely not a place for that, from both sides of the issue, politics that don't affect photography directly have no place here.). The only exception to the discussion of hunting is when the discussion specifically has to do with photography, for example using the techniques of bow hunters to approach wildlife in order to get better photos, that is acceptable as long as the topic stays on point.
