yeah, and I finally was able to upgrade it too, the water heater we had just came with the house so it was nothing special and kinda small, so I upped it to a 50gal energy efficient model which should do better and cost less to run. now I don't know how to get rid of the old water heater.

I'm going to order the new softener this week too, I want to get that in soon, get have hard water so if I leave it too long it can reduce the life of my new waterheater, plus it'll clean stuff better too.

Life with out a softener would suck! I'm not sure I could do it. I would have to figure something out lol.
I just rolled out my 2014 prints album on my FB page. Along with a 24 hour 25% off sale.
    Wish me luck.

yeah, its just expensive, especially since the ones sold at local stores are garbage, I'm going to have to order one and have it shipped. which sucks since they are fairly heavy, I'm just going to do it right the first time and get the one I really want that I know will be A) serviceable in the future with parts available for it, and B) best functionality. I'm leaning toward a Fleck dual tank setup, probably a whole house filter too.

Hell yea, I have a cullingan softener. Seems to work well. I want to install a whole house filter but I've heard mixed reviews. Some say they're great others say they're not worth the trouble.

it probably depends on the water quality, they're mostly for taste improvement out here it would be nice. the one I had also came with the house and was left on but without salt for like a year while the house was on the market before we bought it, so I'm not surprised that it died. right now I'm debating if the dual tank softener is really worth the added cost over a larger capacity on-demand single tank, the real benefit is that when the circuit is regenerating, the dual tank just switches so you're never without soft water, but that really only occurs for the few times it is regenerating at the time you need to use it, which isn't too often that I've seen, but my old softener was just a timed one, not an on-demand one.
